LAKME FASHION WEEK DAY 3

2 months ago | BY Huma Hazarika Sharma

Summer/Resort’19 Day 3

We saw lots of floral-injected drama on Day 3 of the Summer/Resort’19 edition of Lakme Fashion Week, and it was also the most buzzing. While we saw a lot of creative collabs between design and fashun powerhouses, there was also an interplay of sustainable with others who made a strong statement on consumerism, and other ills that plague the world in 2019.

ASHISH N. SONI x GRADO
LOOK4
Blazin’ bright blazers sans lapels worn over kurtas in single and double-breasted versions, were teamed with cool cropped pants in flared versions, and those that weren’t #blazingblazers

KANIKA SACHDEV+ NEELANJAN GHOSH – JAJAABOR
LOOK3
Jajaabor’s ‘The Moving Wall’ invoked memories of the years gone by through exquisitely embossed horses and fish atop pleated and layered ensembles in the finest mulmul, silk chanderi, organza, khadi and cotton gauze #thememoryproject

KANIKA JAIN – KANELLE
LOOK6
Jain paid ode to Jap florist+botanical sculptor, Azumma Makoto, through her fantastical manipulation of fabrics into floral motifs via gorj 3D embroidery and block-printing on wrap-a-round+smock dresses, layered jackets, checkered harness blazers, and billowing sleeve blouses.

MOHAMMED MAZHAR
LOOK5
Mazhar’s ‘Kadhaiwala’ was a bevy of full-circle blousons, asymmetrical skirts, and interesting bags in trending ‘white’ with beautiful elements of fleur de lys creeping their way through chunnis, and as borders on most of his clothes #flowerpower

PAYAL SINGHAL x CAPRESE
LOOK1
Singhal’s ‘Qo’shillish‘ was a Renaissance-meets-Mughal take on Indian folk art that whirled down the runway in periwinle blue, moss green, ocean teal and poster pink lehengas, supersized gypsy blouses worn with pants, asymmetric kurtas and saris.
