EDITORS’ PICKS

We heart it, you cart it

The brand new year brings with it brand new things, and apart from the promise of new beginnings and the making (and the eventual breaking of New Years’ resolutions), pop culture, travel, food and the end-of-season sales (lol) just give us even more reasons to rejoice. We’ve picked you the coolest stuff right up there on our bucket lists for 2019, and who knows, you might find yourselves adding ‘em to yours too #bringit2019BEAUTIFUL BOY
11
This Steve Carell, Timothee Chalamet & Maura Tierney-starrer is an American biographical drama based on the books ‘Beautiful Boy: A Father’s Journey Through His Son’s Addiction’ by David Sheff, and ‘Tweak: Growing Up On Metamphetamines’ by Nic Sheff. The critically acclaimed film has just released the world-over after a initial US release, and depicts the strained relationship between a father and his drug-addicted son. Be prepared to cry your hearts out peeps.

‘HEAD ABOVE WATER’ – AVRIL LAVIGNE
10
In the time of self-acceptance and self-love, Lavigne’s upcoming new album deals with her battle with Lyme Disease and how it helped her grapple with a lot and how she finally managed to beat it. Slated to be released on 15th February, it is especially being looked forward to by fans and critics alike ‘cos it’s the first album she’s going to be putting out in close to 5 years.
MEATLESS MEAT+VEGANISM
9
The vegan food revolution has been brewing for a while now, as anti-cruelty campaigners and others have successfully managed to put an end to fur being used in most design houses, and turned a lot of former meat and dairy farmers towards more humane options for a livelihood. With 2019 being the year of vegan-everything, we are super stoked to see healthier, cruelty-free options like Beyond Meat flooding the market with plant-based ‘non-meat’ meat (yes, that’s a thing now).

S*X EDUCATION
6
The latest award-worthy show out of Netflix’s stables comes not just critically-acclaimed, but it has already garnered itself a huuuuge fan base. The way the show’s teenage protagonists and their friends+frenemies+arch-rivals deal with the subject of s*x (losing it, the different ways of doing it, how to help yourself – you get the drift), in a way that is relatable, but also not annoyingly preachy the way shows like ’13 Reasons’ got in the second season. We’d love to rant and rave ’bout it more, but then you just gotta watch it for yourselves, and join the SE fan club.

RIO DE JANEIRO
12
Yup, the Brazilian capital is finally having it’s moment in the sun, and if you’re doing up your bucket lists, put this grg city on top of your list, you must.

SILK+KNITS
8
Luxe silks and pretty knits are going to be super BIIGGG and everywhere.

FAUX LEATHER+FAUX FUR BAGS
5
The whole anti-cruelty movement has got Burberry, Gucci, Versace, Tom Ford, Armani jumping on to the anti-fur bandwagon too, and boy are we glad for all those adorable foxes, rabbits, minks and dogs (yup), who have been spared a fate crueller than cruel. So, when it comes to your bags, cruelty-free is the way to go.

CORDUROY
4
Cord pants are back after a long hiatus, and we are glad ‘cos come to think of it, bae did look damn cute in ‘em back in the day. Wear ‘em in earthy neutrals or go bold in coloured versions.

PLEATHER SHOES+BELT
3
Yup, sustainable is the buzzword this year, and when it comes to accessories or clothes of any kind, we’d like to believe we’d make the choice that’s more humane.

PAMPER YOURSELVES, MEN
2
And, why not right? If we are talking equal rights, you deserve to be spoil yourselves silly too from time to time, no?  And, we’ve picked you just the perfect au naturel products that are organic and don’t test on animals.

GET FIT
1
A fit mind usually has a fit body to thank, and since we are talking everything cleaner, more natural and sustainable, there’s no reason you shouldn’t help your body sustain its’ healthiest self, and working out every once in a while, or daily, is something we could all get on board with.
