61st ANNUAL GRAMMY AWARDS
Who wore what & more
Everyone from fan+critic favs, Lady Gaga, Drake, Ariana Grande and Childish Gambino went on to win big at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards, and while Gambino and Grande were conspicuous by their absence, we had some cray moments that went viral and sent the world-wide-web in a damn tizzy #ItAintNoGrammyWithoutTheDrama
Read on for everything from our fav moments to fashun+beauty lewks that had us go “dayumm”.
PDA was in full-swing on the Red Carpet with Kylie Jenner+Travis Scott looking totally in love; while J. Lo+Alex Rodriguez looked totally in-sync; and Offset+Cardi B were back with a bang after hitting a rough patch.
‘Twas Cardi B’s first-ever performance at ze Grammy’s, and we gotta say, Ms. Almanzar killed it, and on typical Cardi-style, she sang something that wasn’t even in her Grammy-nommed album.
Like literally the best moment of the Grammy’s was when Michelle Obama appeared alongside hosts Alicia Keys, Jada Pinkett Smith, Lady Gaga+J.Lo and gave us a powerful speech on how “music shows us that all of it matters”.
Everyone’s fav Twitter/Instagram, troller, and star wife, Chrissy Teigen, chose to give the big night a miss, as she filled us in on how John Legend, ‘EGOT bored’, and continued to give us a not-going-to-the-Grammy’s tutorial, to live updates, and we lapped it up.
Lady G sizzled in a radiant diamante-encrusted one-shoulder gown, while Camilla Cabello werked the baby bangs in a pony lewk. Dua Lipa was an angelic vision in silver, and that bob, dayumm.
The Latin OG that mills of us fell head-over-heels in love with the world-over, a still hot, mustachioed Ricky Martin, was back to his ‘ol getting us hot ways, as he headliend the opening act alongside Camilla Cabello, Young Thug, J Balvin+Arturo Sandoval.
Heidi Klum’s #LWD with the exaggerated sleeves and the pared-down metallic accessories was hands-down our fav #Grammys2019lewk
J.Lo was her stunning self in a svelte sleeveless white gown topped-off with a wide-crimmed hat, which was panned by some, but we loved all the #blingalottabling
Everythang from Ms. Perry’s mismatched earrings to that flouncy layered skirt, and that just perf tube with a hint of metallic, had us floored. Didn’t you hear ladies? #Pinkisthenewblack
Brought the whole 50s-meets-Cowboy vibe to the Grammy’s, with his custommade suit was more Motown than Red Carpet, but ’twas still a total thumbs-up from us.
Mark Ronson’s contemporary take on cocktail dressing was a total hit. We loved how the jacket was cut just something different #TheUptownFunk
Fantastic Negrito seemed to have taken the whole indigenous prints trend a tad too seriously, but we are totally lovin’ his take on it. And, that red #RadRedThreads
The rapper’s lace shirt+those embellished pants and the suede slip-ons, matched with all that mad bling had us bow down to him (or his stylist) with respect, ‘cos girl ya know, it ain’t easy to wear all that drama so easy #Blingforthewin
Zedd’s dapper velvet suit with the fleur-de-lys, and that cute bow-tie to match that hair, had us blown ‘cos he kept it simple (at least by Grammy standards), and still came out one of the best dressed.
The American Gospel musician was the shizz in his HTT green suit and the matching black bow-tie+shoes.
While H.E.R.’s on-point curls were undoubtedly the envy of every other ‘her’ on the Red Carpet.
And, Dua Lipa’s minimal face+that cuter-than-cute bob stole the show.
Country star, Kacey Musgraves channelled pink just how it should be done.
And, Lady G’s subdued smokey eyes+those nude lips were a tad disappointing to those of us who’ve been superfans since her ‘Poker Face’ days, but we would give her 8/10 still ‘cos #SimpleIsTheNewSexy we hear.
